Mühlebach has been part of the municipality of Ernen since the merger in spring 2005. Ernen is one of the 12 municipalities of Goms (Valais/Switzerland), has 530 inhabitants and is located on the left side of the Rhone Valley, nestled in the alpine mountains at 1,200 metres above sea level. The "Goms Bridge", built and opened in summer 2015, connects the two hiking areas of Mühlebach and Bellwald as well as the Rottenweg and the Gommer Höhenweg. Mühlebach is home to the oldest wooden settlement in Switzerland. The church of St George, built between 1510 and 1518, is also worth a visit. In the municipality of Ernen, time seems to have stood still and yet neither residents nor holidaymakers need to do without the comforts of modern life that are now taken for granted. Cable TV and internet are just as much a matter of course as the good range of daily necessities. The concerts in the music village are a special experience. Ernen is part of the Landscape Park, a "Regional Nature Park of National Importance".
