A gem facing the lake

The prestigious ?Maison Royale? is one of the most sought after residential buildings in Geneva and it is rare to find a property for sale there.

Built at the beginning of the 20th century (1908-1909) by the architects Henri Garcin and Charles Bizot (and renovated in the 1960s and 1970s), this building, which some considered controversial at the time, was grander and more opulent than any other with its white stone facade, domes, dramatic turrets, cornices, massive columns and ornate terraces. Originally it was even adorned with an imposing 3m wide eagle, but this was removed in the early 1940s. When entering the building, you are struck by the intricate wrought-iron door and elevator shaft as well as the marble entrance, the beautiful fresco on the ceiling and the grand staircase. At this point you immediately know that you are being transported into a very special bygone world.
