Where children from the scattered farms of Eggiwil in the middle of the Emmental once learned their ABCs, made friends on the playground and planned their pranks, projects can now be implemented that would hardly have a place anywhere else. The former school building in a secluded location, built in 1953 and an extension in 1994, is still recognizable as such from the outside: its imposing appearance, the many large windows and, above all, the safe playground next to it ensure this.

Today, the many classrooms and teachers' rooms and the attic are designed as a single-family home and divided into six units, which cover a living space of around 440 m². Each unit has its own wet room. In total, the house has two kitchens, a kitchenette, six bathrooms, five of which have toilets, and a sauna. This means that several generations can live together and support each other, friends can set up a shared apartment with plenty of personal space, supervised, therapeutic living can be offered or units can be used for seminars, music and art courses and coaching with overnight accommodation. Everyone - whether permanent residents or guests - can find a break from the hustle and bustle of everyday life here, and find physical and mental peace. When the weather is nice, it is great to linger outside on the square or on the roof terrace with a panoramic view of the greenery, which promotes relaxation and creativity.

Thanks to the solid structure and the various renovations during the conversion in 1994 and between 2010 and 2017, the building is in good condition. It is heated by a central wood-burning heating system, which is actively supported by Swedish stoves in each unit. The best quality water is supplied by the building's own spring, which contributes to its autonomy. Wastewater is cleaned by a biological sewage treatment plant. The numerous ancillary rooms also include the public civil defense cellar for the surrounding farms, which, with its 45 m², also serves as a spacious storage area. There is enough space for cars in the carport and in front of the house.
