Untersteckholz, a former political community in the canton of Bern, was an independent scattered settlement until December 31, 2009. Located in picturesque Oberaargau, it bordered the canton of Lucerne and was crossed by the River Rot. Surrounded by the communities of Pfaffnau, Melchnau, Busswil near Melchnau, Obersteckholz district of Langenthal and Roggwil, Untersteckholz has a scenic location.

As a typical scattered settlement, Untersteckholz had no central village center. Instead, the houses and farms were spread across the area. This gave the place a special rural atmosphere and ensured harmonious integration into the surrounding nature. The extensive landscape with rolling hills, green fields and picturesque farms offered residents and visitors a relaxing retreat.

The merger of Untersteckholz with the municipality of Langenthal on January 1, 2010 brought new perspectives and opportunities for the local residents.
