The community of Ausserberg is around 1000 m above sea level. M. at the Lötschberg south ramp approx. 7 km from Visp. There are good transport options, on the one hand through the post bus connection to Visp and the rail connection towards Brig / Bern. Ausserberg can be reached by car in around 15 minutes from Visp.
Ausserberg is particularly attractive for tourism thanks to its nature. The historical Suonen, which are still useful to the population today, can be visited on several hiking routes. UNESCO has declared the Jungfrau-Aletsch region, which also includes the local community of Ausserberg, a World Heritage Site.
