Jaunpassstrasse 7-9 in Jaun
With its 5,530 hectares, the municipality of Jaun is the fourth largest in the canton of Friborg and has around 700 inhabitants. It borders the municipalities of Val-de-Charmey and Plaffeien and the Bernese municipalities of Boltigen and Saanen. The village lies at 1,050 m above sea level, making it the highest in the canton of Friborg. Jaun lies on the German-French language border and is the only German-speaking municipality in the Gruyère district. Many residents speak both German and French.
The kindergarten and primary school are in Jaun. The German-speaking secondary school is attended in Freiburg.
The tax rate for income tax is 100%. The property tax was set at 1 per cent.
The community is located in the geographical center of several tourist towns (e.g. Charmey, Bulle, Gstaad). The municipality is connected to the public bus network and has bus connections in the cantons of Friborg and Bern.
The next motorway access to the A12 is in Bulle and is approx. 23 km.
